The Bear is highly regarded for his quiet, not boastful, great strength.He is known by his traditional role as the “Keeper of the Medicines”.The belief being that when medicines are kept safe, people too, will be kept well.
Here, the Bear is on the hunt, looking for himself, his family and his people, his travels long distances to keep all well.

Leroy Henry is a member of the Turtle Clan, Cayuga Nation, of the Six Nations Confederacy.
Born in 1974, Leroy has enjoyed carving since
the age of ten. He is active in the traditional sports of lacrosse and snow-snake, but mostly enjoys sharing the traditional ways of his Elders through the tales
of his sculptures.
His large sculpture “Eagle Tree of Peace” in the
heart of Huron University's campus in London serves as a center-piece and symbolize reconciliation between his community and the Anglican Church.
