Joe Greene

Joe Greene, a member of the Cayuga First Nations Wolf Clan, was born in 1983. He started carving at a young age by observing his father and grandfather.

As a contemporary Native artist, Joe creates works that reflect native themes connected to the land, sea, sky, and his heritage. He carves using soapstone and antlers, often finishing his pieces with a walnut dye he makes himself.

This modern sculpture honors the Eagle Protector, symbolizing its spirit, strength, and protective abilities.

In Native Legends, the Eagle is highly significant. As the bird that soars highest, it is the first to perceive what lies beyond the horizon. The majestic bird serves as the Creator's messenger, alerting humanity to future events and acting as a guardian or protector. Joe's sculpture aims to provide eternal protection to its keepers.

Carved on the Six Nations Confederacy of the Grand, proudly made in Canada.
