Jimmy Petooloosie

Jimmy Petooloosie, born on February 6, 1961, in Iqaluit, Nunavut, is an Inuit artist recognized for his captivating sculptures, particularly of polar bears. Petooloosie resides in Cape Dorset (Kinngait), a community famous for its rich artistic heritage. He comes from a family of prominent carvers; his father, Joanassie, and brother, Noah, have both made notable contributions to Inuit art. Joanassie encouraged his sons to pursue carving, often involving them in his projects, which helped shape Jimmy's artistic journey.
