Cee Pootoogook

Cee Pootoogook is a talented Inuit artist hailing from Kinngait (Cape Dorset), Nunavut. Born on August 1, 1967, he comes from a prominent artistic family, with his parents, Napachie and Eegyvadluk Pootoogook, both being recognized Inuit artists. He is also the older brother of contemporary artist Annie Pootoogook.

Cee initially began his artistic journey as a carver in the 1990s, creating detailed depictions of spirits and transformative figures. However, in 2009, he transitioned into printmaking, where he quickly excelled. His prints are known for their intricate design and dynamic movement, such as in his notable work School of Fish (2015). Cee’s art captures both traditional Inuit themes and daily community life.

His work has been featured in exhibitions across Canada, the United States, and Europe, making him a significant figure in the contemporary Inuit art scene
