Josie Pootoogook

Josie Pootoogook was a prominent Inuit artist from Cape Dorset, Nunavut, Canada. Born in 1958, she was part of a family renowned for their artistic contributions to the Inuit printmaking tradition. Josie was the daughter of the celebrated artist Kenojuak Ashevak, which placed her in a rich artistic environment from an early age.

Pootoogook's artwork is recognized for its unique style, which often includes intricate depictions of Inuit life, animals, and mythical themes. She was known for her innovative use of color and form, blending traditional Inuit themes with contemporary artistic expressions.
